SJ2877 THE PARADE, Parkgate Village 794-1/5/107 (East side) 27/12/62 Prospect House and attached railings to front steps

GV II

House. Early C18 with mid C19 alterations. Whitened roughcast on brick, slate roof with stone copings and brick end stacks. EXTERIOR: 3-storey 2-window front. Five steps lead up to 4-panel door and plain fanlight in moulded round-headed doorcase with vermiculated keystone. On each side full-height canted bays with single glazing bar sashes extend upward to the top floor where a heavily moulded eaves cornice sweeps up and over to form semicircular heads to second floor windows. There are sunken panels below the ground floor windows and pilaster angle mullions with moulded caps under projecting cornice. INTERIOR: 4-panel doors throughout. Staircase with heavy reeded balusters, quarter space landing and windows. Exposed ceiling joist at first floor level. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: stone steps with cast-iron railings, railings have spear finials.
