GV II

Terraced houses. 1807-1818. Stucco, roofs of slate so far as visible. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys over basement, one-window range to King's Road. Flat-arched entrance to Nos 147 and 148 with pilasters, entablature and overlight; canted 2-storey bay to ground and first floors; in front of ground floor, Ionic columns supporting first-floor verandahs of cast-iron; first and second floors flanked by Ionic pilasters to each house; entablature over second floor; third floor windows flat-arched and set back under a round-arched archivolt; piers between each house; shallow cornice and no parapet; stacks to party walls. No.146 has its entrance front in Bedford Square of 3-window range, double-fronted; porch of antae distyle in antis with entablature now only partially wreathed; flat-arched entrance with fanlight having decorative glazing; single-storey segmental bays to either side with semi-domes, the windows tripartite with console brackets supporting wreathed entablature; sashes of original design in part; over the porch a cast-iron verandah framing a round-arched window with moulded stucco architrave; other windows flat-arched. INTERIOR: not inspected. Cast-iron area railings.
