Terraced house. Early C19, heightened in late C19 or early C20. Stucco, cobbles, cobbles coated in pitch, and brick. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys over half basement. One-window range. Stucco to basement scored to resemble ashlaring. Cobbles in pitch above. From ground to second floor rises a segmental bay with flat-arched, tripartite windows. Sashes of original design. This bay terminates in a wood cornice. First-floor balcony with cast-iron brackets and C20 railings. Painted bricks used as dressing and corner quoins; a brick storey band between the second and third floor separates the early C19 structure from the third floor added in the late C19. The materials used in the lower floors are repeated in the added storey but are unpainted. This storey has a flat-arched tripartite window, with red brick surrounds and corner quoins. The top of the bay below serves to form a balcony for this window and is enclosed by cast-iron railings. A brick cornice supports projecting eaves with blocking course. Large console brackets with guttae terminate the cornice on lines with the party walls below. The round-arched entry with fanlight is in the right return and set under a prostyle porch consisting of Tuscan columns and entablature blocks, which support a gabled roof formed from raking cornices only. Stacks to party wall. INTERIOR: not inspected. Railings to area. No.15, Nos 17-18 and Nos 20-26 (qv) Upper Rock Gardens form a group.
