Houses, now shops and offices (No.8A now amalgamated). Late
C18. Stucco. Roofs V-shaped between the party walls, No.7 of
slate and No.8 of tile.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. One window each, No.8 having in addition
a narrow range set back at the party wall with No.9 (qv). C20
shop fronts to ground floor. There is a carriageway to the
right of shop to No.8; the blank range over it angling back to
the party wall with No.9. All windows are flat arched.
First-floor window to No.7 retains original projecting sill
but has been replaced in late C20. Its original form may be
preserved in the second-floor window which is tripartite with
sashes rebuilt on an original pattern: 6 x 6 to the centre and
2 x 2 to the sides. The party wall between Nos 7 and 8 is
expressed above the roof. No.8 has a segmental bay with
tripartite windows to the first-floor; the sashes have been
rebuilt after an late C18 or early C19 pattern: 6 x 6 to the
centre and 4 x 4 to the sides. The tripartite window on the
second floor has the same pattern of sashes. This window, like
those in the narrow set-back range to the right, has an
architrave. The range of the carriageway has first- and
second-floor windows with sashes of a 4 x 4 pattern which is
an original early C19 one. Stacks to end wall of No.7 and to
right-party wall of No.8. No.8 extended to rear in the late
C20.
