Bond Street Cottages
II
Terraced house and shop with additions to rear. Early or
mid-C19, possibly earlier. Stucco, brick, render and
weatherboarding, roof of slate where visible.
EXTERIOR: the listed building is in 3 parts, and excludes the
premises of the Sussex County Arts Club at the west end of the
site. The first part is stuccoed and of 3 storeys over
basement with C20 shop front to Bond Street: 2-storey canted
bay to upper floors; parapet; C20 flat-arched entrance in
right-hand return with single-storey segmental bay to right,
having sashes of original design. Second part, a 3-storey
brick wing to the west with replacement entrance to left, then
2 cambered-arched entrances, one with a panelled door of
original design, then a cambered-arched window with sashes of
original design; several cambered-arched windows to upper
floors; single-storey rendered lean-to range to west elevation
with 2 horizontal sliding sashes above. Third part: 2-storey
range of brick to ground floor and weatherboarding above, and
one horizontal sliding sash to first floor; end stack to
second part and ridge stack to third part.
