Former rectory, now house, originally incorporating The Old
Rectory South (q.v.). C17 remodelled c1700. Roadside front and
rear walls ashlar; right-hand return coursed squared and dressed
limestone; artificial stone slate roof; ashlar stacks. 'T'-
shaped plan. Two storeys and attic. 4:2-windowed roadside front
with flat-chamfered plinth. Cross wing projects forwards right:
two C20 cross windows with wooden mullions and transoms to the
ground and first floors. Three blocked windows and a C20 panelled
door within the left-hand return. Two C20 cross windows flanking
the former doorway of the central range; single C20 cross window
towards the right. Four early C18 cross windows with wood
mullions to the first floor. All windows with moulded surrounds
and glazing bars. String course between the floors; three 2-
light dormers to the roadside front. Right-hand return: upper
part of a 2-light and a single-light stone-mullioned cellar windows
visible at ground level. Two early C18 two-light casements and
one single-light C20 casement to the ground floor. Two C18 cross
windows and one C20 two-light casement with frosted glass to the
first floor. Cross windows and two doorways with ovolo-moulded
surrounds at rear. Single C18 two-light roof dormer; small
chimney gable now with stack removed upper right. Hipped roof
with a modillion cornice at front and to rear; twin axial stack
with a restored moulded capping.
Interior: large open fireplace with bread oven at rear; beams
with stepped stops; parallel spine beams to the main body. C19,
C17 style staircase up to opening onto a landing with early C18
fielded panelling and a bolection-moulded stone fireplace
containing late C18 hob grate. Early C18 fielded 2-panel door off
landing. Bolection moulded stone fireplace in an adjoining
bedroom. Back stairs possibly dating from the late C17-early c18.
with turned balusters.
