9/42 Coachmore Hill Lodge
II
Lodge, probably 1880's, by John Douglas. Picturesque square 1½ storey
lodge cottage, with squared snecked red sandstone lower storey, oak
framed gables and dormers and grey/green slate roofs with red tile
ridges. Stone chimneys with barleysugar moulded brick circular flues.
Jettied front gable on carved oak console brackets. Moulded window
surrounds (mullions and transome to larger windows). Upper storey
windows oak framed and mullioned. Patterned leaded glazing to all
front and side windows. Shaped boarded front door of oak with ornate
wrought iron hinges and latch. Stone pilasters to sides of doorway
and carved oak detailing to front bedroom window in imitation of
Jacobean country builders' use of classical motifs.
Interior: 'L' shaped staircase with simple newels and shaped flat
balusters. 4-panel bolection moulded doors.
