Icehouse. c.1757, probably by John Wood the younger for Sir Robert Throckmorton. Coursed limestone rubble except vermiculated rustication to porch; thatched roof over icehouse, stone slate over porch. Circular brick icehouse has square porch attached to front. Picturesque style. Porch is pedimented to front and has entry to each of its 3 sides with semi-circular arches linked by an ashlar string course at impost level. Conical roof over icehouse is brought forward with a small gablet over the gabled porch roof. Interior: Interior of portico is rendered; icehouse entered by C20 plank door in a semi-circular trick arch. An excellent example of a Georgian icehouse in the Picturesque style.
