TL3212SE QUEEN'S ROAD 817-1/20/178 (East side) Chest Tomb approx 50m south-east of Church of All Saints

GV II

Stuccoed brick chest tomb with cast-iron top slab. C18, rebuilt 1822. Chest tomb has recessed side panels inscribed to Charles Saunders by whose will dated 30 June 1817 bequeathed to Vicar and Churchwardens ยป456 1s 9d to invest for ever to keep the tomb in repair and surplus to provide bread for poor residing in Parish of All Saints. Cast-iron top slab with torus moulded edge, and raised lettering, in memory of Mrs Mary Saunders, late wife of Cesar Saunders, (d.1762 aet 43), Cesar Saunders (1706-1777), his son Cesar Saunders (d.1796 aet 48), Charles Saunders (d.1818 aet 89), rebuilt 1822, Robert Orme Vicar, James Nunn and John Simson, Churchwardens.
