Large house. 1866 in Gothic style with large bargeboards reminiscent of James Brooks,
late C20 addition to west not of special interest. Built of Bargate stone with tiled roof
and 7 brick chimneystacks. Asymmetrical building of 2 storeys and attics 7 windows
with irregular fenestration. Projecting gable to north west has elaborate wooden
bargeboards enclosing trefoil. Double mullioned sash to attic, triple to 1st floor and
triple mullioned and transomed casement to ground floor. Side elevation has tall
external brick stack with blank shield decoration below and 2 large carved bargeboards to
1st floor windows. To left is set back section of 4 bays with 1 gabled dormer. 2-light
window to right obscured by large gabled porch with ornamented bargeboards and stone
quatrefoil over 2 centred arched doorway with decorative spandrels. Further 4-light
mullioned and transomed staircase window then gable with 1st floor jettied with 4-light
window to 1st floorand 3-light window to ground floor and 5th bay has mullioned
windows 6th bay projects forward with tall external stack incorporating bell and half
hipped gable incorporating arched bargeboards. 3rlight4nJvw to ids floor and 4-light
window to ground floor. End bay has gable. Interior has oak well staircase with turned
balusters and chamfered newel posts; oak fireplace with scrollwork panels and pi ah
marble surround and lounge has linenfold panelling and fireplace with clustered
octagonal columns.
