The following entry shall be added to form two separate entries:- BARNACK STATION ROAD (north side) TF 0805 35/103 19.3.62 No 7 and 8 II GV

No 7 Station Road shall be upgraded to Grade II* (star), and the entry shall read:-

TF 0805 BARNACK STATION ROAD (north side) 35/103 No 7 GV 19.3.62 II* House. Circa C13 or C14, remodelled in circa late C16 or early C17. Coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins and steeply pitched Collyweston stone roof with stone coped gable end. Stone axial and small gable end stacks. Plan: 2 room and cross-passage plan. Originally an open hall and inner room at the left (SW) end with a solar above. In circa late C16 or early C17 the hall was floored and an axial lower end stack was inserted forming a cross-passage at the right hand (NE) end. In C18 or C19 a partition was inserted to form an axial passage at the back of the hall and a staircase was built at the rear of cross-passage. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-bay S front. Chamfered triangular headed doorway to right with plank door and C19 2 and 3-light casements to left, first floor left blocked Medieval 2- light stone traceried window with label; casement below set in larger blocked opening with reset C19 arch with carved fleurons. At rear (N) on right another blocked Medieval solar window of 2 lights with tracery and label and blocked first floor doorway to its right and small blocked chamfered window below; small single light casements to left and plank door at centre with side light. Interior: Hall has chamfered axial beam with hollow step stops and chamfered half beams against front and back walls; large fireplace with chamfered timber lintel. Later axial partition at back of hall. Inner left hand room has late C19 chimneypiece and grate. Left hand chamber (solar) has large roughly chamfered tie beams, splayed blocked window at front, blocked chamfered 3- centred arch doorway at rear and small blocked window in hall- solar partition wall. Remains of smoke-blackened collar rafter roof incorporated into later clasped purlin roof structure.

Coursed stone rubble range with steeply pitched Collyweston stone roof with coped gable ends. Two storeys. Four window range. C19 casements. First floor left (west) a small blocked 2-light traceried window with straight head with hood mould. Beneath is a C13 pointed arch cut off below the springing and has floral carving and hood mould. Triangular headed doorway at centre. Plain doorway to right. Plank doors. Another small medieval traceried window at rear. No 8 at right hand (east ) end is probably an C18 addition. Central ridge stacks of stone. Interior: stop chamfered ceiling beams. VCH Northamptonshire Vol II.
