Group of 5 headstones 3 metres south of the south aisle. 1735,
1736 and 1737. Ashlar. Single rectangular headstone with shaped
head. Inscribed "Here lieth the body of Sarah the wife of John
Brett daughter of Nathan Giles and Sarah his wife who departed
this life June the 26 in the year of our Lord 1737 in the ? year
of her age." To the right are 2 double rectangular headstones.
Each with 2 arches. Decorating each arch is a single cherub head
carved in relief. The first headstone inscribed "Here lieth the
body of Sarah ye wife of Nathan Giles who departed this life
August the 6th in ye year of our Lord 1736 in the 54th year of
her age." and "Here lieth the body of Nathan Giles who departed
this life August..,in the year of our Lord 1735 and in the 49
year of his age. Blessed are the ... who die in the Lord." That
to the right is inscribed "Here lieth ye body of Nathan Giles
the son of Nathan and Sarah Giles who departed this life March
the 20 in the year of our Lord 1735 and in the 25 year of his
age." and "Here lieth the body of John Giles the son of Nathan
and Sarah his wife who departed this life May the 13 in the year
of our Lord 17? and in the 22 year of his age." 2 metres to the
east of this row are 2 further rectangular headstones, that on
the left with shaped head is inscribed "Here lieth ye body of
Elizabeth ye wife of William Giles she departed this life August
28 in ye year of our Lord 1747 in ye 30 year of her age." To the
right is a double headstone with 2 shaped arches inscribed "Here
lieth the body of Mary the daughter of William and Elizabeth
Giles who died November... 1736 aged 1 month." and "Here lieth
the body of John ye son of William and Elizabeth Giles who died
March the ? 1737 aged 11 dayes."
