GV II

United Reformed (formerly Congregational) church. 1877. CO Ellison. Uncoursed freestone with Welsh slate roof. Gothic style with south-west tower, single-span main body of chapel beyond, and gabled offices to north. S elevation has recessed porch with paired entrance arches carried on polished granite shafts with small trefoiled windows each side under continuous hoodmould. Doorways to east and west within the porch. Stepped triple window above with shafts carrying moulded arch. Tower to right with porch in south wall between flying buttresses. Paired shafts to doorway. Lancet windows in first and second stages, then paired bellchamber lights. Tall angle pinnacles to parapet which is cut by stressed gabled decoration rising from above the bellchamber. Main body of chapel beyond is 2-storeyed, with canted porch to west. Divided by shallow buttresses into 3 bays, each with a trefoiled window to each floor.
