TQ2904SE LANSDOWNE SQUARE 579-1/23/89 (South side) 24/03/50 Nos.1, 2 AND 3 and attached railings (Formerly Listed as: LANSDOWNE SQUARE Nos.1-9 (Consecutive))

GV II

Terrace of dwellings. 1830-33, refenestrated late C19-early C20. Architect C.A.Busby. Stucco over brick and rubble, roof concealed behind parapet. One of 3 short terraces abutting to form U-plan group known as Lansdowne Square. 3 storeys over basement, 5:1 bays, end bay right recessed at junction with No.4 (qv), giant pilasters carrying entablature and moulded cornice with pilasters to second, or attic, storey continued in low parapet, second and fourth bays left narrower than others with entrances to Nos 1 and 2, mostly sash windows with one vertical glazing bar, No.1 with inappropriate late C20 rustic door, Nos 2 & 3 with early C20 doors. Cast-iron railings returned from entrances along street frontage with gates to basement area.
