Block of apartments. c1870. Render over brick, roofs concealed
behind parapet.
L-plan: abutting Victoria Terrace (qv) west, returned to
Medina Terrace (qv) to south, entrance on north elevation.
3 storeys plus basement, north front: 3:2 bays, full-height
canted bay left, sash windows without glazing bars; pierced
parapet similar to that of Medina Terrace (qv), dentil moulded
cornice, moulded string, first floor window round-headed with
pediments to second, fourth and fifth bays, ground floor with
large keystone to camber-headed window openings; flat roofed
porch with C20 wrought-iron balustrade occupying first and
second bays right, arched opening carried on piers with 3-bay
loggia on left return, subsequently infilled, fanlight and
panelled door. Two identical statues of a knight, about one
metre high, have been added to the loggia.
Left return: east front, 1:3:3 bays with 2 full-height canted
bays, rusticated ground floor. Cast-iron window box guards on
cills of ground floor windows. Very similar to the facade of
Medina Terrace (qv) abutting to south, but one storey lower.
Walls and piers: a continuation of those fronting Medina
Terrace (qv) and returned to entrance of Albemarle Mansions.
Rendered brick and terracotta. Rusticated piers with shallow
pyramid caps, wall with moulded coping and balustrade of
interlocking circles. Included for group value.
