NZ 4113 SE YARM HIGH STREET (East side) 35/608 37/608 Nos 98 and 100 (The Ketton Ox Public 5.5.52 House)

II*

Main building of late C17 with lower, two-storey south wing incorporating No 2 Silver Street (q.v.). No 98: Building of late C18 appearance, possibly with older core. Stucco with hip-ended Welsh slate roof, rebuilt chimney on ridge. Two storeys, two windows. Later C19 sash windows with stone cills. One pilaster at left, remains of a grander predecessor. No 100: Stuccoed front, Welsh slate roof with deep eaves. Three and a half storeys, five windows, slightly irregular. The top half-storey is a row of blank, raised ovals. Front articulated by six giant pilasters around which second and third floor stringcourses are wrapped and which have stepped capitals falling short of eaves. (Roof has been raised.) Various windows: C18 and C19 sashes and Yorkshire lights. Two four-panel doors with oblong fanlights in pilaster-and-entablature surrounds.
