Vicarage. c1876. By John Douglas. Red English bond brick with
slate roof. Two storeys. Entrance front: brick string course at
level of ground floor window sills. Cogged bond between floors and
second string course at level of first floor window sills all of which
features continue around the building. Gabled wing to right having
central chimneystack with off sets. Slightly recessed portion to left
of this has a pointed arched porch entrance at right approached by two
stone steps. Hood mould above. To left of this four-light
mullioned window with moulded brick surround. First floor 3-light
half-dormer window over porch entrance with mullions and moulded brick
surround and decorated gable. Chimney stack to left hand gable end.
Right hand return: gabled bay window at left with 5-light mullioned
window and moulded brick surround to ground floor. Similar window
above, both floors having single light windows to the returns.
Rendered gable above. To the right of this is a low three-light
ground floor window with a four-light mezzanine staircase window above
having brick mullions and transoms and arched lights. Four-light
ground floor window to right of this. Rear: projecting gabled wing
to the left with canted hipped bay window to ground gloor of three
central lights with two lights to the angles. Five-light first floor
window above this and decorative brickwork to the gable above, which
also has a cogged band at its lower margin. Four-light ground floor
kitchen window to right of this. Slightly recessed lean-to to right
with a single-light window.
