Late medieval single cell church, restored 1703, and with C18 fittings. Tile roof
with boarded belfry at the west end,. surmounted by a lead pyramid roof. Walling is of
stone rubble, with stone dressings, rendered in part with C18 red brick stepped
buttresses set within at each corner, with one intermidately. Single light 5-cusped intermediately. Single light 5-cusped
Perpendicular windows (2 on the north, 3 on the south side), C15 2 light west window south side), CiS 2 light west window
within a square frame, and modern (Perp) 3-light east window. Plain chamfered south
door with date plaque above (ie 1703)). Within, the east end is raised on one step,
with C18 turned altar rails; on either side of the altar table is a painted board of the altar table is a painted board
(Creed and Lord's Prayer); the north side wall has fragments of C17 paintings. On the
south wall of the nave is a large painted board with the Commandments set within
arched frames headed by figures, all within an architectural framework with side
pilasters. Opposite is the tomb monument of Sir Richard Powlett (1614) comprising a Richard Powlett (1614) comprising a
recumbent figure within a richly-decorated Ordered frame, with strapwork and finials,
a rear inscribed panel, a tomb chest with 2 panelling facing figures in a central
recess, all surrounded by a wrought-iron rail. The west end is enclosed by a C15
screen, with bench seating and a ceiling. A moulded cornice (of 1703) surrounds the
main interior, and there are further painted fragments. A helm and small wall
monuments, 3 hatchments and a Victorian font complete the furnishings.
