Terrace of 4 shops. Late C18. Brick with stone dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys with basement, 2 bays to each shop. 1st bay forms return to No, 102A, which is of 3 bays and faces Waterloo Street. Top cornice. Windows have wedge lintels and are sashed with glazing bars. No. 98 has inserted shop front. No. 100 has inserted shop window and round-headed entrance with corbelled squat columns to doorcase, complete fanlight and 6-panel door. No. 102 has contemporary bowed shop front; Doric pilastrade with [?] fluted pilasters. Windows with small-paned, fixed glazing and complete segmental fanlights flank entrance with complete overlight and paired doors. Entrance steps have iron handrails. No. 102A has most windows boarded and segmental-headed window in gable with tripartite sash, much decayed (1984). Central round-headed entrance has Doric aedicule with open pediment, reeded frieze above boarded door. Return to High Street has entrance with wedge lintel (probably originally window) with iron handrail to steps, and door inserted in 1st floor window opening. The bowed contemporary shop front is a rare survival.
