SJ 3490 NE VICTORIA STREET (north side) L1 49/1302 Nos. 61 to 71 (odd) (Jerome Buildings and Carlisle Buildings) 14.3.75. G.V. II

Office building dated 1883. Red brick with stone dressings, red tiled roof. Basement, 3 storeys and attic, 6 bays. 2 round-arched entrances with iron gates; elliptical headed windows to ground floor 1st and 3rd bays, straight headed windows with coving to 4th and 6th bays, with carved spandrels, and ogee cusped brick decoration over doorways; 8 octagonal pilasters with carved beasts on top at stringcourse level. 1st floor has mullioned and transomed windows of 5:3:5:4:3:4 lights, cusped over doorways, and interspersed with carved decorative panels. Wide band with diapering between 1st and 2nd floors. 2nd floor is similar but plainer, with carved and dated panels. Most windows on 1st floor have headed lights. Dormers project above eaves and have 3-light windows to 1st 3 dormers, 2-light window to rest, pagoda roofs and button finials. 3 stacks with decorative caps.
