In the entry for WOLFHAMPCOTE SAWBRIDGE SP 56 NW 7/134 The Cottage and Red Roof Farm The grade shall be amended to II* and the description should be amended to read: 2 houses, possibly originally one. C15 with C17-C19 and C20 alterations. Timber framed: studding and small panelling with lath and plaster infill. Front and ground floor right return side of left wing rebuilt in scored rendered coursed ironstone. Left return side and front of main range largely rebuilt in whitewashed brick. Right return side has corrugated iron cladding. Corrugated iron roof; brick ridge stacks. T-plan with cross wing on left. Former hall-house 2 storeys; 4-window range. Main range has central section with large posts, and some studding to first floor. Corner post on right. C19 plank door on right under brick segmental arch. Ground floor has two 2-light C19 casements. First floor has C19 fixed light window. Small single light. 2-light casement on right. Glazing bars throughout. Cross wing has C20 cross window and leaded 2-light casement above. Gable has small panelling. Irregular left return side has C20 half-glazed porch on right. Rear has exposed framing. Interior: former hall range floored in C17 is of 3 bays and has open truss with arch braces from wall posts, linked by spurs to wall plate and meeting heavy cranked collar with central pendant boss. Other trusses have tie beams and arch-braced collars. Curved windbraces. Base framing of louvre remains. Timbers heavily smoke-blackened. Wall plate has applied moulded and embattled cornice. Cross-wing has closed queen-strut truss.
